Sweet Potato Festival on Saturday February 23rd The Annual Sweet Potato Festival was held February 23 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 70 Central Avenue, Norwich. Many came to Celebrate the rich history of African Americans and enjoyed entertainment by the Reliance House Jazz Band and Poetry by the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, Special Olympics (ACT-SO) participants. Luncheon was served starting and included Barbecued and Baked Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, Hoppin John (Blackeyed Peas) and Rice, Collard Greens, Cornbread, Peach Cobbler and Punch. There was a special Tasting Table and assorted Sweet Potato Desserts for sale. |
